Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are required when a patient needs a top, bottom, or an entire replacement of teeth. This is the most common procedure known for denturists as they have years of successful history, which has only advanced due to modern technology. The process to receive complete dentures can be lengthy as it requires four appointments. After the four appointments, there is an adjustment period for patients due to various conditions that may cause the jaw formation to change.

Immediate Dentures

For those who may be unfamiliar with dentures, immediate dentures are needed for more serious cases of teeth extractions. They are dentures that are immediately inserted into a patient’s mouth after having all their teeth extracted. A mold of the teeth is taken prior to the extraction(s), which allows for the dentures to be made to fit seamlessly, and quickly. We understand that the thought of having missing teeth can be worrisome, so immediate dentures are a quick and worriless solution.

Partial Dentures

A partial denture is a removable denture that helps support the surrounding teeth when there is a missing tooth. It also prevents the chance of tooth loss, rotation, and shifting that could occur if the gap is left open. Partial dentures are typically made from an acrylic or metal composition which enables them to resemble the surrounding teeth, providing as aesthetically pleasing and comfortable appearance. Additionally, a partial denture can be made within one day, making it an effective and efficient solution for those seeking a quick replacement for a missing tooth.

Denture Relines

As dentures age or experience wear, they may no longer provide the ideal fit they once did, leading to discomfort and potential oral health issues. That's where denture relining comes in. This procedure involves readjusting the inner surface of your dentures to match the changes in your gum tissue and jawbone over time. By doing so, denture relining not only enhances the fit but also helps prevent potential damage to your dentures and surrounding oral tissues.

Denture Repairs

We understand that accidents may happen with dentures, which is why we make it easy to get denture repairs done at the Oak Bay Denture Clinic. Dentures may become worn over time, tear, or break; but they can be repaired without the need of a full replacement. However, if you have a denture that is broken, it is crucial to have it fixed immediately by a professional. You could end up damaging your gums and worsening the damage on your dentures the longer you wait.

Denture Rebase

Caring for your dentures is an important task to ensure that they do not become damaged. Some patients may not realize that soaking their dentures in harmful solutions can cause warping or brittleness. A dentures rebase is performed to repair any cracks or damage that has occurred, specifically focusing on the pink acrylic portion of the denture while preserving the teeth portion. This process restores the pink acrylic to its original state, bringing the denture back to its proper form.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Over time, our jawbones gradually shrink due to factors such as age, smoking, and illnesses. As a result, dentures may no longer fit properly in the oral cavity. Implant-supported dentures often a solution by combining dental implants and dentures to provide additional support for individuals with missing teeth. Titanium rods are surgically implanted into the jawbone, serving as replacements for natural tooth root and enhancing the stability of the denture. These rods are typically placed before the dentures are created ensuring proper fit and comfort for both the dentures and the patient.
